Where would I find a group that is interested in medieval times?

  • March 15, 2011 3:48 pm

I absolutely love history, especially history related to what people wore and how they lived everyday life. I love going to Renaissance and Medieval faires, but honestly, my friends are not so interested in this kind of stuff. I’m not really into fairies or dragons, but more into authentic outfit reproduction (sometimes I think I should have been a costume designer.) Where can I find others who have similar interests as I do. I’m tired of dragging my unwilling friends and relatives to these things and would like to find some friends in the Seattle area that are interested in this time period or many other fascinating time periods such as the Civil War or the late 1880’s. I’m mostly interested in the outfits and how people lived. I’m fairly shy and feel odd about just walking up to someone at a fair and asking if they would be my friend :)

I've searched to web for a fairy dress, but keep getting the same results from different sites. Need help.

What I am looking for is a fairy dress to wear to a Renaissance faire (something similar to what my avatar is wearing). I did a web search, but I keep finding the same dresses/costumes on every site. They are either slutty, or cheaply made (and it shows) or well constructed, but outrageously priced. There is also a profusion of Tinkerbell costumes, which is not what I am looking for. I want something that looks like something a real fairy would wear (if fairies were real) and will not break my budget. Also, it would be helpful if the site accepts Paypal. If anyone has any information that will help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Types of Renaissance Faire characters?

  • November 3, 2010 6:14 am

I’m aware of the Peasants, Nobility, Fairies, LOTR characters, and Pirates. What other types of characters are acceptable for the Faire?

I’ve been trying to do internet research for costume preparation but I’m not able to find what I’m looking for, which specifically is the "barbarians" or people that wear beards, leather, and fur.
What are they called exactly? Links or pictures would be great.

Thank you!

Renaissance Festival Costume Ideas Help?

  • July 22, 2010 6:28 am

Would dressing like a fairy/faerie be out of place at a Renaissance Festival?

I’ve been to one, but it has been so long that I don’t know if I ever saw faeries/fairies there.

The particular fair would be the one in Larkspur, Co this summer.
