I know that most, if not all, Renaissance Faires have no dress code for the public, but I was wondering if there was some sort of costume etiquette. I’ve been to a handful of faires and at all of them, you could always tell the actors from everyone else because the actors’ costumes were always more extravagant than anyone else’s.
There are so many gorgeous period gowns available for purchase, but many of the ones I’d consider buying are extremely intricate and elaborate. And while I enjoy getting attention for what I wear to the event, I don’t want to upstage the actors who have put so much into their appearance.
Is that I valid consideration to make, or should I not worry about it and wear whatever the hell I want to?
