Costume swap ideas for a couple?

We want to go to an adults Halloween party as a couple but thought it would be funny to swap the costumes to go as the opposite sex, so I have to dress up as the female half of the couple! Would it be best to dress up as a famous couple or just as a man and woman in reverse and try to look really convincing as the opposite gender? What would be the best outfits for us to wear, we thought of bride and groom or male magician and glamorous female assistant but we would like more ideas.

What are some good theme costume ideas for Halloween?

My friend and I (both 17) have decided that we want to go out and have fun (and get free candy) this year. We are planning on going out Trick or Treating, and we want our costumes to be theme costumes.

Some of our ideas are:

1. John McCain and Sarah Palin
2. Renaissance King (or Knight) and Queen (or Princess)
3. Cows
4. Old Man and Woman
5. Huck Finn and Aunt Polly (in modern day, but dressed as in the book; basically the old people costume with a twist)
6. Priest and Nun
7. Manager at a local bookstore and manager at a local grocery store ("Steve and Louann") [Personally frightening]

I am on a budget, and I don’t have anything for any costumes right now, so I would love suggestions on how to make these costumes inexpensively or ideas for other inexpensive costumes. Thank’s a bunch!
