What does anyone have against a man wearing tights?

I dressed up as Robin Hood once for Halloween, and my father made me take that costume off poste haste, (at the time I couldn’t figure out exactly why).
As well one of my Anglican Church buddies hosted a Renaissance fair and was similarly reluctant to change his costume afterwards..
Anyway, I don’t think that was anything homosexual, -on both our parts. He was quite a family man but admitted he didn’t want to get out of his costume. From it I remember, too, my reluctance at the time, to take them off.
Some women’s clothes are gross and I would never wear them, but I think leotards are an exception, because I think they were originally designed for men..

Ideas for cheap, homemade Renaissance costumes?

I’m going to the faire next weekend to meet one of my favorite authors, Peter S. Beagle. Sadly, I have no costume and I’d like to look renaissancey for the occasion. Plus, it’s not nearly as fun going in regular apparel.
I have some ideas but they suck royaly being as that my budget is tight if I want to go.
I was sort of thinking something like a female thief or the feminine version of the fictional character robin hood. Or a hunter. Some female costume thy doesn’t involve a dress. If you have any ideas, they are much appreciated.

Any Bandit Costume ideas?

I am having a murder mystery Medieval Era themed birthday party. My character is a highway woman(kind of like a lady robin hood). So i need costume ideas. I have glasses an I don’t like wearing contacts soo… Any ideas for my costume? By the way I’m a teen, so teen appropriate!

i know its pretty early to be picking costumes or even thinking about them
but i do this every year around this time to buy them online so its really nothing new
and me being only 16 and 5′9 [[ and proud of it =) ]], i dont think any of the following costumes are inappropriate for me so no rude comments please

What kind of hat should I wear for a renaissance costume?

I am going to the renaissance faire this Saturday and I threw together a costume from goodwill, but I have no hat. What kind of hat should I wear and where can I find one? Don’t say a Robin Hood hat, cuz thats like medieval, not renaissance
