Plus size kids costumes?

  • October 12, 2010 11:01 pm

My daughter is a little overweight and has a hard time fitting into costumes sold at the disney store. She fits into the dresses just fine, but when it’s a pant and shirt combo or a costume that is designed to be a little bit on the tight side (like the ariel costume), she has a bit of a hard time. She has been almost all of the princesses and wants to stay with the Disney princess theme that she does every year. The problem is we’re left with Ariel, Jasmine, and Pocahontas. Does anyone know where I can find plus size kids costumes? I tried doing a google search and all I come up with is plus size adult costumes. I thought about getting a pattern, but I am not known for my sewing skills. I take all of my mending to my moms house! Help! I fear I’m running out of time!
In response to Emily: You did not answer my question. I know that being overweight as a child leads to problems later in life. She sees her doctor regularly. She eats well and she plays sports. She is perfectly healthy-blood work and all. Please do not judge someone you do not know. In the future, try answering the questions that are asked and not giving your opinion on something that is outside of the scope of the question.

Is a mob cap OK to wear with a period costume to a Renaissance Faire?

I have short hair (just brushes my shoulders) so I need to cover it versus doing braids or something like that. Is a mob cap ok? I think it’s cute and simple, and I’m not sure if I could manage to make a snood with my very limited sewing skills.
